I think your theory about downtown cores is accurate, but I don’t know if Colerain and its surrounding burbs ever had such a thing?

Also, in terms of that other Chinese place, is this the one you’re talking about: https://queencitydiscovery.blogspot.com/2013/03/suburbia-lost-buffet-style-restaurant.htmlRonny Salernohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09028420637930256541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7812116909571848352.post-47672126188216490252017-12-27T16:36:43.073-05:002017-12-27T16:36:43.073-05:00Hi Ronny, just landed here from the Granola Shotgu...Hi Ronny, just landed here from the Granola Shotgun blog. nice work capturing the ups and downs of commerce in the city. Seems like Colerain developed naturally around the post-WWII, car-centered model. Wonder if the organization of things might be different if the towns inside Colerain still had their central "downtown" cores intact. But I don't think that's been the priority since the build-out in the 50's.

Lol, Chinese buffets *do* seem to adapt to any space. There's a place in Springdale next to the freeway that's been a Chinese buffet (twice, I think) an Indian buffet, and was vacant for a while but is now one of those loan-sharking/check-cashing chain outfits. I had a few bad meals there during its Chinese Buffet stage. Krogers is planning to move where Sibcy Cline and Goodyear was moved. McDonald's moved to the mall parking. Which will soon have no parking because they keep building new structures in parking lot. Borders is gone. We still have a riding mower from Central Hardware. It is almost an antique.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7812116909571848352.post-75337754703786382542016-10-16T20:07:51.654-04:002016-10-16T20:07:51.654-04:00Thank you for taking the time to read and for shar...Thank you for taking the time to read and for sharing your thoughts as well as your memories!Ronny Salernohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09028420637930256541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7812116909571848352.post-55953503302352141042016-10-16T20:07:10.573-04:002016-10-16T20:07:10.573-04:00That's true, but I wouldn't exactly call t...That's true, but I wouldn't exactly call those "Cincinnati market" even if they are in the MSA area. Though I lived much closer to the Beechmont and Amelia area, it used to be a big deal to occasionally visit Forrest Fair Mall or the JC Penney Outlet store on Colerain (followed by Friendly's for lunch). Bigg's at Eastgate was my mom's grocery store of choice.

Though I feel out of my depth in the discussion of how these situations could be best handled, I enjoy your blog and the points you bring up. The post about ideas for an old motor court motel was shared somewhere which is how I first found your blog. There are two right off I-75 closer to Dayton - one on 63 in Monroe (combined with a Wendy's, going back to when Wendy's owned the chain) and one on 73 in Springboro (standalone store right next to a Wendy's). However, I'm sure most people in the Cincinnati area don't even know they exist.Oldiesmannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02153120398430260397noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7812116909571848352.post-71232202911150318932016-10-14T15:03:44.848-04:002016-10-14T15:03:44.848-04:00Pizza Hut has been torn down to make room for Tim ...Pizza Hut has been torn down to make room for Tim Horton's according to the Enquirer.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7812116909571848352.post-55946164919050144522016-10-14T02:48:56.368-04:002016-10-14T02:48:56.368-04:00Dude!
