[Suburbia Lost] Rally's - Sharonville

Known as "Checker's" for some, "Rally's" for others - you can't hide what this building used to be under neutral gray paint.

Remember at the beginning of the "Suburbia Lost" project, there was a post entitled: "You Can Tell Area Businesses Used to Be Wendy's" which was a play off of an Onion headline called: "You Can Tell Area Bank Used to Be a Pizza Hut?"

The articles highlight a concept among fast food chains, a theme that's recurred constantly throughout this photographic project: fast food joints are easily recognizable. Such is the case of this abandoned Rally's in Sharonville. Even boarded up with the branding removed, you know what those double drive-thru's were for.

The real question is: what do you turn this building into, if anything? Given how long its been sitting there, no one seems to have the answer.

  1. I used to drive past this place all the time and never ate there. They should tear this ugly thing down and let nature retake the land!

  2. You were great on Home Improvement!

    1. I'm not sure what you're referencing so it only seems appropriate to respond with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnsiZOJjfUg

  3. Here in Columbus the old rally's got an addition and is now a Gyro Shop

  4. I think it only closed within the last 12 or so months. I grew up in Sharonville (having moved there in 1994(, and I remember the building always being there.

  5. I used to eat at this Rally's all the time coming home from a factory job off 42. One of the better Rally's in Cincinnati, most seem to be severely lacking in the service department.

  6. UDF is expanding at their corner on Lebanon & Kemper Rds. The old UDF, this Rally's, and an auto repair shop have all been demolished and a new UDF is taking shape.
