Demolition of a Residence

A few weeks ago on a bike ride, I came across the remains of this house in Fort Thomas, KY.

In a hillside neighborhood overlooking the Ohio River and Cincinnati's East Side, all that was left of the house was a field of dirt, a few pieces of the property, an excavator, some other construction equipment and a few personal effects. I'm not sure what's going on with the plot of land. In the few weeks since making these photographs not much work seems to have taken place.

Google's street view offers a look at the residence before it's demolition:

And now with the property gone, the landscape is dramatically different:

  1. that house looked beautiful! have you found anything out about why this gorgeous property was decimated? :(

  2. decimated would imply they removed 1/10 of the house, this was demolished. Given its view and location, probably a teardown for an ostentatious mess.

  3. ...ouch adam...

  4. Hardly a valid reason: "...expansion of the public right-of-way at the end of Riverside Parkway to effectuate the division of a 9 acre parcel into three single family building lots." http://www.ftthomas.org/ArchivedMinutes/6.3.2013.htm Yuck.
