Pentax K1000

- Pseudo-abandoned industrial facility in Cincinnati's Oakley neighborhood.

Part 3 in a series on getting back into film.

Laura’s dad had given me his Pentax K1000 awhile back. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever use it, but like a lot of the other film cameras I had acquired, I figured it’d make a nice decoration until I found some time. I scoured the manual, loaded the film, and set out on my bike on a Saturday afternoon. I spend a lot of my time running through Oakley and Norwood. Often, I see things I’d like to photograph, but don’t want to break my pace to stop and pull out my phone. With no other obligations on a warm day, I headed out to find some of those familiar sights. Overall, it maybe performed the best out of the film cameras I had gotten working. Along with the Nikon and Minolta, it’s in my camera bag for the next road trip to Cleveland. I’m firmly in love with film again and eying all these other cameras on my shelf.

P.S. If you have any experience with an Argus or a Slomexa, I’ll gladly buy you a few beers if you show me the ropes and annoy you with questions. Get at me.

P.S.S. If you know the history of the pseudo-abandoned factory seen here, I'd love to hear it.

    1. Indeed it is! I've thought about stopping in there, but haven't made it yet. Worth it?
